Well, I did it. I ran my first 5k ever. I started running in August when I signed up for the Learn to Run clinic at The Running Room and today I was able to run in a race. It went pretty good and I was actually able to run the whole thing without stopping for a walking break. Two months ago I could hardly run to the stopsign at the corner and now I can run 5k without stopping - it's a good feeling to accomplish that.
I was excited that this was going to be our goal race and I of course didn't even have to think about who I was running for. Go Marisa Go!!!

Fantastic job Karen! To think you have three kids and time to train for the 5K! WOW! Thanks for running for a great cause. Marissa is in our prayers.
That is SUCH an accomplishment - good for you! Sometimes when there is that "reason" it just pushes you to do something more.
Way to go Karen... Congratulations

Congratulations Karen!!! I used to run and started off with running just 2 light posts. I went from that and did the exact same race you did only it was in Barrie (4 years ago) That was my first 5k race. I got so addicted to it that I ended up running about 4 more 5k's and even trained for The Toronto Marathon (yes I have the metal to prove it) It was HARD, really HARD but I was running with my father's picture on my back the whole time and that's what got me through. I kept it up for another year or so and now, well.......
Just got FAT!!!!
Hope Marisa gets well real soon.

How do we really know it's you in that T-shirt. Shouldn't there be a face shot to prove you were really there? :) Good job on the 5 km. Just thinking about it makes me tired!
:)
Oh Karen you should feel so so proud of yourself. Well done you!!!! If I was home, I'd of been there cheering you on :)
Can you hear me?
Awesome Karen! It's wonderful that you are so inspired by your friend. Like another comment, I am amazed how you found the time to train with three active children. I have my hands full keeping up with my two.
