One of the ways our adoption journey #2 (to Denver) is different from journey #1 (to Samara) is that we don’t have a travel group. The first time around we were put together with a bunch of other families and we became very close with these people, before, during and after our trip to China.
Over the last several months, I have gotten to know some other Christian adoptive moms that all live in the area. For some of us, this is our first time adopting. Some of us are on our second adoption journey and one mom is already home from her second adoption journey. (We're all adopting, or have adopted, from Ethiopia). I love this group of women and cherish these new friendships. It’s great how we all encourage each other and share in the ups and downs of international adoption.
There are seven of us now in this group and it’s not always easy to pick a time to get together that works for all of us. We’ve done gatherings with the kids and we’ve had ladies night out. This past Monday, everyone (including some of the kids) was able to make it to my place for lunch to celebrate our referral of Denver. It was so fun to show off our new son and just to hang out and catch up with everyone again.
Thank you so much Anna, Liesl, Tracy, Liz, Sarah and Mary Catherine for sharing in our joy. I’m so glad that God has brought us all together and I look forward to celebrating more referrals hopefully in the near future. (Tracy . . . I think you’re next!!!)
Here’s the dessert we had after lunch. (Thanks Mary Catherine!)

What a wonderful group of friends and so neat that they were all able to get together with you to celebrate Denver's referral.
You did put a piece of that yummy chocolate cake into the freezer until next Saturday right?? :o)
What a blessing to have a group like this! Cherish...(which I know you will). I love reading your excitement about this new little arrival!
That looks delicious! It is wonderful that you have found a wonderful group of supportive adoptive parents on this, your second, journey.

Nice cake!!
I am so glad I got connected to you and other Moms who are adopting in this area. It's nice not to be going through our second adoption alone!!
